Third Generation // X-Mid 1

The third generation X-Mid 1 is completely redesigned to be even lighter, more spacious, smaller footprint, and more user friendly.

1. ULTRALIGHT

The X-Mid 1 was introduced in 2018 at an ultralight weight of 28 oz (1.75 lbs / 795 g). Since then we have continually improved it with more space, refinement, and features, but what hasn't improved - until now - is the weight. For the third generation we have lowered weight and done so in the best possible way: saving weight through efficiency instead of compromising durability or sacrificing space.

More specifically, we have made two changes to save weight: high precision narrow seams with narrow seam tape, and a new high tenacity 15D silpoly. This new fabric provides similar strength as our previous 20D silpoly at a 20% lower weight. When our previous 20D silpoly was introduced in 2018 it was a pioneering fabric that was initially met with skepticism, but went on to lead an industry wide switch to silpoly while becoming well rigorously proven. Our new 15D high tenacity silpoly continues this legacy of materials leadership with even higher performance for the weight.

Using this new fabric, the third generation X-Mid 1 weighs just 25 oz (1.6 lbs / 720 g) while becoming even more spacious and featured. The Solid version also uses the narrow seams but continues to use our proven 20D silpoly fabric

2. SPACIOUS

While the X-Mid 1 has been one of the more spacious 1P tents on the market since the second generation updates in 2022, we know that ample space is essential for a good experience so we have continued to scour the shape of the X-Mid 1 to find even more. For the third generation, we are pleased to announce further increases in the interior space, including becoming wider, taller and longer.

The inner tent is now:

  • Wider by 2″ (5 cm) to 33″ (84 cm)
  • Longer by 3″ (8 cm) to 93″ (236 cm)
  • Taller by 2″ (5 cm) for more headroom

With these updates, the X-Mid 1 is more generously sized to make riding out tough weather more comfortable. Best of all, we've accomplished this while actually making the footprint of the tent smaller.

3. USER FRIENDLY

The X-Mid is known for its user friendliness because the design has been developed from use in tough conditions where you want a shelter that works simply and intuitively. The third generation X-Mid 1 continues that legacy with these improvements:

  • Previous mitten clip connections that are hard use in cold connections have been replaced with easier to use buckles
  • Interior zippers now have a 90 degree corner design that more reliably operates one handed.
  • Two new sidewall pockets have been added (in addition to the two peak pockets) for a total of 4 pockets.
  • The footprint of the fly has been reduced by 2" (5 cm) of width.
  • Fly zippers now have dual sliders (Solid version only).

Overall, the third generation is the largest update to the X-Mid 1 ever, including a complete redesign of the shape and details. The result is a tent that is lighter, noticably more spacious, and easier to use while continuing the X-Mid's reputation for performance and reliability in tough conditions.
