Which Tent?

Our lineup of tents are all based on our X-Mid geometry so they have a similar shape, but come in three versions: regular, Solid, and Pro. All of these versions are highly versatile and capable tents that can handle a wide range of conditions, but each version is optimized for different conditions and priorities. They differ in weight, price, durability, and what protections they provide.

01

X-Mid

Our regular X-Mid tents are our best all around shelters. They are very capable backcountry tents for tough conditions with features like a fly first pitch, protected doorways, peak vents, and non-sag silpoly fabric. They provide a very high amount of space and protection for an ultralight weight and affordable price.

The regular X-Mid comes in 1P and 2P sizes. Both are larger than typical for their size to provide generous space. The 2P is a 'true' 2P tent that can fit two wide pads.

Application: The regular X-Mid is ideally suited for a wide range of 3-season backpacking conditions such as the Appalachian Trail, the Colorado Trail, and Australia's Bibbulmun Track.

02

X-Mid Solid

The X-Mid Solid tents share the same shape and doublewall design as the regular X-Mid tents but add further protections for harsh conditions. Most notably, they replace most of the mesh with solid fabric to better block drafts and rain splatter. They also add buckles on the base of the fly zippers and additional reinforcement at some guyout points. The downsides are the slightly higher weight and the solid fabric inner can be too warm in very hot conditions.

The X-Mid Solid comes in the same 1P and 2P sizing as the regular X-Mid tents with identical dimensions. The Solid inner is interchangeable with the mesh inner for hikers who want both options.

Application: The X-Mid Solid is ideally suited to challenging conditions like Canada, Northern Europe, winter camping, ski touring, and Patagonia, while remaining a great all around tent that can be used almost anywhere. It is a very capable tent but not a 4-season rated tent for severe conditions.

03

X-Mid Pro

The X-Mid Pro is our superlight series that incorporates Dyneema fabrics and a hybrid/singlewall design to create some of the lightest tents in the world. They are more expensive due to the high priced material but cut the weight almost in half compared to our other models. They do make small compromises in durability to shed further weight while remarkably capable for their weight. They are often even more spacious than our other models.

Our Pro tents come in three sizes: 1P, 2P and 2+. The Pro 1 is even larger than our other 1P models while the Pro 2 is a bit smaller than our other 2P tents in pursuit of the lowest weight, which is why we added a 2+ model to the Pro line that is larger than the X-Mid Pro 2 and similar to our other oversized 2P models. Choose the 1P for a nicely spacious 1P tent. Choose the 2P for occasional 2P use or a solo palace, and choose the 2+ for regular 2P use.

Application: The Pro series tents are ideal for ultralight hikers looking for a premium tent that saves maximum weight while remaining very capable. Our Pro tents are ideal for 3-season ultralight backpacking and long thruhikes such as the Pacific Crest Trail.
