X-Mid Stargazer Kit

Sale price$19.00 USD

Simple Pitching of Your Inner Tent

The Stargazer Kit enables easy pitching of your 2025 X-Mid 1 or 2 inner tent (does not work with pre-2025 models nor Pro series tents). It uses matching buckles which clip to the existing buckles on the peaks of your inner tent while grommets makes it easy to add your poles. Peak guylines are included and easily adjust with cord tensioners that match the rest of your tent.

PITCHING

To use the Stargazer kit, start by staking out the 4 corners of your floor so it lays taut in its parallelogram shape. Then buckle the Stargazer adapters to the two peaks with the matching buckles.

Then one peak at a time, extend your pole so it is 2-4" (5-10 cm) taller than the inner tent peak, insert the pole tip into the grommet, and stake out the guyline. The guyline should be aimed approximately in line with the ridgeline. Orienting the guyline in other direction will twist the inner and decrease space.

Use the provided tensioner to snug up the line and repeat at the other peak.

Pre 2025 model?

Hi Durston, what are my options if i have a pre-2025 model? I thought in earlier days there was a stargazing kit available?

We did have a 2019-2024 stargazer kit but it is sold out now. The best recommendation is to either ask in our facebook kit to buy one second hand, or use the 'further variation' that accomplishes something similar by rolling back the fly. We show that at the end of our pitching guide video in the 'variations' section.

Pole Orientation Matters (pre-purchase review)

My X-Mid 2 will be arriving soon, and I was very interested in the stargazer kit. I ultimately did not buy this add-on due to the requirement to use trekking poles in a tips up orientation. There are too many stories of rodents chewing on trekking pole cork for me to personally consider that orientation. I would gladly order one of these kits if offered with a reinforced pocket for a tips down orientation, however. Until such time, I assume we will look into that further variation.

Thanks for sharing your feedback about preferring the pole orientation the other way. In your case, the Further variation is a nice option, and also you could just tie the guylines onto the inner peaks and use a clove hitch knot around your handles if you want to pitch just the inner with the handles up.

Cheers,
Dan Durston

Product is perfect, I only wish shipping wasn't as high on small light items.

The kit is high quality, light as expected, and made of the same cord that comes with the tent. For these smaller items, though, I feel like the shipping should be differently calculated from the rest. If part of a larger order, this should add nothing to the overall shipping cost and if sent domestically, it’s the cost of a couple of postage stamps.

I don't even mind that it's not included in the tent. Not everyone will use it.

I know it’s a minor thing to complain about, but when shipping adds 25% to the cost of the item… it seems a little refinement would be in order.

The product itself is solidly built, as expected.

Thanks for the feedback and review Gary. How our shipping rates calculate is complicated, but we do have it set so the first accessory doesn't add any shipping cost to a larger order. I see yours was ordered separately, so the shipping cost was $6 CAD. We ship those an oversized letter with a couple of a stamps. We probably could get this down $1-$2 but the price is pretty close to the cost now.
